A still, grey, cold weekend. But dry and I am thankful for that. Consistency in posting is still a bit all over the place but perhaps that is a nice place to be. Sometimes the regimented posting gets to much, time to ease back, post every day if it feels good and not at all if it doesn't! I spent most of Saturday up a ladder giving the Wisteria its annual prune. I hate ladders and I hate ladders even more in the cold, still, it is done now and I feel good for it, so jobs a good 'un!
So, another from the last trip and a village that I haven't stopped at before, it was so damn small I doubt I ever will again. Still, I found one house that yielded a number of shots, this being the first. The village was Mesa Potami (Μέσα Ποταμοί) which is on the way to the Lassithi Plateau (Οροπέδιο Λασιθίου). The village will be forever imprinted on my memory if only because I banged my head on a low door frame and nearly passed out, no blood though, and being a man I am probably exaggerating. The Cretans as a race are quite short and in the older houses this is reflected in the height of the damn doors! I did try and locate this place on Google maps but failed, so this can be one of the secret places.
"Love must be shown at every moment!
LSD tells me never to save up what I need to spend in my old age
-- spend your love now for I may not have the chance later on, dig?
My unspent love draws no interest. Like an unused muscle, it goes slack.
If LSD taught me one thing it taught me the immediate necessity of exercising the love muscle.
Not tomorrow but now. Since this moment is now let me just say,
to whoever's pretty eyes or ears pass over these words
. . . I love you very much."
