Yep! I'm in big boy trousers and to be honest I'm relieved. I'm always happy to get into the shorts but the getting out of them is always so sweet. So, I have been wallowing and luxuriating in the warm legs. I know it sounds vaguely perverted and I guess it is but no children or animals were hurt so I guess that makes it OK.
I'm on the 4 day countdown to Crete which feels quite nice and quite odd at the same time. I think it is about four months since I was last there and oddly I feel detached from the place so I am looking forward to being emotionally reacquainted with the place. Empty roads, cool, short days, it's always odd to go this time of year....I guess the thing I enjoy above all else is the island feeling like it should.....quiet and without the mania that often tourists bring to a place.

The photo was taken at Easter. Not exactly a derelict house, in fact a house that is for sale, it just wasn't secure so I figured that the owners and the estate agent might not be terribly offended if I snuck in and took a photo. I did feel slightly uncomfortable I must say knowing I had wandered in when I shouldn't have. Anyway, I kind of liked the setup and the one room living. I assume it was organised this way because perhaps an elderly person was the last occupant and getting upstairs might have been an issue. Moving the bed into the kitchen probably suited their needs at the time. Oh, it was taken in the village where I stay Kritsa (Κριτσά). So, for those of you with an interest here is what I wake to every day I am there, I look at this and the sea beyond. If you want to gaze down on me here is an aerial shot of Kritsa (Κριτσά).
Said of Kritsa (Κριτσά) but not by me. Since at least pre-Minoan times, the village of Kritsά has been continuously inhabited. It was reckoned to be in its prime during the Byzantine years. The Arabs devastated it in 823 A.D. and it was rebuilt in 961A.D. Its peak growth was reached during the Frankish period in the 13th and 14th century. It used to be the largest village in Crete during the middle ages. In 1867, it became the headquarters of the municipality which included Krousta, Prina, Kalo Horio, Mardati, Aghios Nikolaos, Mesa Lakonia and Tapes. In 1925 it had its own community, but since 1998 it has comprised one of the 14 precincts of the Municipality of Aghios Nikolaos.

It was on an Indiana farm in the middle of the country
Growin' in the fields of grain, Jim dean of Indiana

His mother died when he was a boy, his father was a stranger
Marcus Winslow took him in, nobody seemed to want him
The hired man sang like a storm, sometimes he'd beat him
cause he would never do the chores, he was lost in dreaming

He never seemed to find a play with the flatlands and the farmers
So he had to leave one day, he said to be an actor
Once he'd come back to the farm with starlets from the stages
They locked themselves inside his room, the people turned their faces

A neighbour ran from the movie house, chickens they were scattered
He swore he saw upon the screen, Jim dean of Indiana
He played a boy without a home, torn with no tomorrow
Reaching out to touch someone, a stranger in the shadow

The Winslows left for the movie town, they drove across the country
They hoped that he would stay around and they hoped he would be friendly
He talked to them for half an hour but he was busy racing
He left for the grapevine road[1], they left for Indiana

Then Marcus heard on the radio that a movie star was dying
He turned the tuner way down low, so Ortense could go on sleeping
It was not until they reached the farm where the hired man was waiting
The wind rushed silent through the grain, it was just as they had told him

They buried him just down the road, a mile from the farm house
That is where I placed a flower for Jim dean of Indiana.
