Well the dirty deed is done. I managed to book flights last night for Crete so shall be returning there next week. At the very least I am guaranteed some sun on my back, something that seems in very short supply at the moment here and on top of that I get to replenish my stocks of shots and perhaps experiment in a few more areas. So that's next week....nearly didn't happen as there was an issue with the availability of flights from the airport we wanted to travel from. But I manage to find some and so I'm sorted......another week yet so need to sort a few things out including the taming of the garden and a few photo submissions here there and everywhere. I think that my posting last time might have been a little infrequent so will try and post more whilst away this time, if I can be bothered.

Thank you all for your kind words regarding yesterdays photo, I hadn't posted a derelict interior for a while so your words have spurred me on to post another today this time from the village of Vasiliki (Βασιλική). I think as far as I can tell the first from here and an interesting place. Sidestepped many years ago by a new stretch of road and as a result I imagine only visited by locals and hapless tourists like me poking their nose where perhaps it shouldn't be poked.
I did have a rather lovely experience whilst there in that a lovely couple of old ladies decided that I was in need of nourishment so fed me fried fish, made sure I wiped my hands and then proceeded to let me take their photo with the Holga. I have posted the image yet but if you fancy seeing it then it can be seen over at Filmwasters. The village was for the large part deserted and there were a lot of empty premises....plenty of scope for another visit I think...and hey if there's food as well I'm happy. I will need to take a copy of the photo for the two ladies as well of course. If you have a mind to look then here is an aerial shot of the area.

Time wears away
All the pleasures of the day
All the treasures you could hold
Days turn to sand
Losing strength in every hand
They can't hold you anymore

Already dead to me now
'Coz it feels like I'm watching something die

Love looks away
In the harsh light of the day
On the edge of nothing more
Days fade to black
In the light of what they lack
Nothing's measured by what it needs

Already dead to me now
'Coz it feels like I'm watching something dyin'
