OK I'm back! You remember me right? Jesus, it seems like I have been away an age and if you couple that with my infrequent posting and my 2 visits to the Internet Cafe! I have to admit that I did have Internet withdrawal symptoms. The house is in the middle of village with poor Internet access but one of the friends that was staying the first week brought along a laptop that managed to pick up wireless connection that as far as I could tell was a few kilometres away! I shall be certainly be taking my laptop next time in an attempt to exploit the connection. It will save the 10KM drive to town to use the Internet who never seem to open early enough anyway.
OK, so the sun shone and I did lots of Easter type things. Way to much eating and drinking for sure but alas not enough photography to satisfy my needs...long story and boring. I did shoot quite a few films but not enough. I also had a few problems with one of my film backs in that it was not winding the film tightly on the spool. Will have to see if they have light damage and the back needs a service.

Another from the March trip. So many of the villages seem largely inhabited by the old or just empty. Houses just seem to get locked up and left...eventually the elements get in and roofs fall in etc. It's odd the thing that we as foreigners find exciting and beautiful about these places seems to be the complete opposite with regards to the locals...very few of them show any inclination to live in the smaller villages and yet the towns and cities grow. I am generalising slightly but in my experience of this part of Greece what I say seems to apply. Thought I would say that before I get shouted down by someone!
So this is one of about 5 small cottage type premises that were on the roadside close to the village of Pilalimata (Πιλαλήματα) all of them derelict and gradually falling down. I always find these places beautifully melancholic. Every surface and stone carrying a story. The village is further down the road but for those with an interest here is the location of the buildings.

I've made up my mind
don't need to think it over
if i'm wrong i am right
don't need to look no further
this a'int lust i know this is love

but if i tell the world
i'll never say enough
cos it was not said to you
and that's exactly what i need to do
if i end up with you

should i give up
or should i just keep chasing pavements
even if it leads no where,
or would it be a waste
even if i knew my place should i leave it there.
should i give up
or should i just keep chasing pavements
even if it leads nowhere
