You don't want to hear all about my stomach do you? Even though it's on the mend? I'm wondering if it was in fact food poisoning, on a far more romantic note perhaps it more to do with being torn from Greece. Anyway enough said about me stomach eh! Hey I get to have two Easters this year which is rather nice, this weekend in the UK when I get to enjoy the sloth like activities that seem to signify Easter for a large number of Brits. An excuse for a long weekend and sitting on yer arse! Then four weeks later I get to return to Crete. Didn't I mention I was back soon? Must have slipped my mind in all the excitement...yes I shall be there for Greek Easter when sitting on me middle aged ass will be low on the list of priorities! Basically a week of stuff happening so the best of both worlds I guess. I have to say the Greek option is by far the more enjoyable...so much to pull me back there.

Another from the last trip and a visit to the village of Exo Mouliana (Εξώ Μουλιανά). I was there during Apokreas (απόκριες) "Apokreas is Greece's Carnival season which precedes the 40 days of fasting that leads up to Easter. Like carnival season in places like New Orleans, Rio and the Carribean, Apokreas is a period of partying, eating, drinking, dancing and celebrating, though being Greece where eating, drinking and dancing is a nearly every night occurrence, it is taken to new levels during this period. The last two weeks of Apokreas are when it all comes to a head, particularly the weekends. The second Thursday before the end of Apokreas is called Tsikno Pempti and for the purists this is the day when you begin to wean yourself of the meat that you will be abstaining from until a minute after midnight on Easter Sunday."
So I'm wandering through the village when I see this man in his back yard at first I think shaving but as I walk past he seems to be applying lipstick with a brush, I turned and walked back which kind of confirmed it. By the tine I had the Holga out he had disappeared but I hung around and he came back out and left his yard. the red lipstick was obviously his effort towards the fun and games of the carnival season and he was off to parade himself about the village....dressed as normal with red lips. I engaged him in some sort of brief conversation...I'd hate to mislead you to thinking I speak Greek...anyway there was a long enough exchange to enable me to shoot this off from the hip...I kinda like that shade of red, what do you think?
I guess I ought to show you where Exo Mouliana (Εξώ Μουλιανά) is so here is an aerial view of the area.

My heart knows
It needs protection
While it grows

Somebody show me
A place i can go where love's around
A trip to the ocean
I just need to get far from town

There's no way around this
No way around this
No way around this troubled soul

Now you're gone
And i stand, i stand
Between time

Somebody show me
A place i can go where love's around
A trip to the ocean
I just need to get far from town
