The day started with glorious mist and frost, followed by steely blues skies and the hope of a wander with me camera after work. Ha! Thwarted by some weather front that pushed in from somewhere or another. Rain now, supposed to be gone by first light and the promise of more sun tomorrow! The bloody uncertainty of it drives me nuts. In fact I'm that pissed off I'm off for a few weeks...might even go to Crete not sure...watch this space!
On a slightly different tack am in the process of a web site redesign, well not me obviously but am having it worked on. Not sure when it will go live. The blog is being updated but the rest is undergoing a complete overall. My hacked together by me site really looks shabby so hopefully something new to poke around if you have a mind in the not to distant future!

OK, today's photo is from the last trip to Crete in November 2007. There was a real mix of weather with some days being so dark it was hardly worth getting the camera out. This was one of them, I saw this shot and wanted it so much but no tripod and the meter reading was saying 1/8th or something ridiculous like that on 160 film. So I took it as a no hoper really but was really pleasantly surprised. It was taken very close to the village of Vrahassi (Βραχάσι) a fiercely independent village at an elevation of about 500 metres. As I said the image was taken just outside the village but if you are interested then here is an aerial shot of the area.

The blood surges now
as heat swells
the veins of the inflamed sky.
It is trying to go beyond death,
to discover joy.

The light is a pulse
beating ever more slowly
as though about to stop.
