God, I have nothing really to tell you. I pondered over whether or not to tell you how I saved Derek Jacobi's life but then thought I was just copying James and that it wasn't very interesting anyway. I used to have work related issues to moan about but now I don't, I'm beginning to get a reputation for being up beat...shit! I did have an emotional moment earlier. I'm not sure if any of you are members over at Filmwasters. If not and you use film then shame on you and get your sweet asses over there and register...god, they have print exchanges and all manner of wonderful things! Anyway, they have a new guest gallery that has gone up today. They are tin types by the photographer David Prifti. I have to say, quite the most emotional work I have seen in quite a while...it really made me sit up and realise that I am really tinkering at the edges of photography. There are people out there producing work that is life changing. Even if you can't be assed to register and become part of filmwasters, just nip back and look at David's gallery...I hope that it moves you also.

As for today's photo...nothing much to tell you really. It was taken in the village of Monastiraki (Μοναστηράκι) a tiny village at the base of the plateau at Thripti (Θρίπτη). Not my words but: The plateau of Thripti is at an altitude of 880 metres (my map says 920) and it is the highest area where vineyards exist in Crete. Today not many people live in Thripti any more but there are still enough houses, some of them new. Thripti is between Kavoussi and Ierapetra and you can drive here on a dirt road from Kato Horio. Alternatively you can hike from Monastiraki village up to Thripti and then down to Kavoussi.
The gorge of Ha is also in the same area and it needs climbing skills and experience. If you drive from Pachia Ammos to Ierapetra, you will see the gorge of Ha as a deep cleft in the mountain to your left.

I guess I have bigged the place up so the very least I can do is supply you with an aerial view. The village can be seen in the centre of the photo with the gorge and Thripti to the right.

OK guys some of you have been wonderful enough to nominate me over at the Photoblogawards. I would like to thank all of you that have...but if you haven't then the link will provide you with a slightly easier way of doing so. I thank you in advance.
