An Uncertain Future Awaits The Motel Xenia, Amnisos (Αμνίσος, Κρήτη) Crete

Meatballs.....that was the start of it. We all have freezers full of stuff that has been there for an age. I was listening to something on the radio the other day that suggested once a month we should have a freezer week....just live off of the freezer, you know just to keep the food down and stop it being spoiled. I'm not sure I can be assed to do a week but anyway I rescued some Aberdeen Angus meatballs from the freezer. They had a little burn but I thought I would go ahead and cook them anyway and see what they were like. So I went for a nice tomato based sauce that we could have with pasta. Now if it were left to Jan she would have slung them....they were fab! All the better for cooking this morning slowly....letting cool and re-heating this evening.
I'm sensing that you think I don't have enough to occupy my mind!...Oh I do, I do....I love the house husband thing, the need for employment is only driven by money. My dark mood and desire, to talk to as few people in the day as possible lends it's self perfectly to the house husband role. I managed a walk into town to pick up a film which seems to have yielded a few good images and I topped it off by 2 hours sat in the sun. One job application submitted for a job that I have as much chance of getting as I do getting up and dancing at a friends wedding...ZERO!

Today's image is yet another from my wander around the Motel Xenia...derelict and beautiful. I make no apologies...I love the place and feel good documenting it before it disappears. Designed by the architect Aris Konstandinidis (1913-1993). He worked for E.O.T (Greek Tourism Board) between 1957-1967. Today the motel just seems to sit and decay beautifully. I was back there at Easter to try and capture more of it's spirit before it is levelled!. I have even managed to find a decent aerial view of the place. So here is a map of the Motel Xenia. The cross shaped building is the centre of the complex.
