Fun Was The Order Of The Day At Motel Xenia, Amnisos (Αμνίσος, Κρήτη) Crete

Funny how it can be a nothing weekend and yet a productive one. The sun shone and yet total photos taken = 0. But I'm OK with that, I have a stack of stuff to process from Crete and the chores don't do themselves so Saturday involved a trip to Taunton. My mother-in-Law lives in Taunton...92 years young and fighting fit, she even sports her own teeth! Deaf as a post unless you shout loud enough to wake the dead but I wonder at 92 that must be quite a nice place to live...a world of silence where you only hear what you need to. Anyway, she fed me full of food that I would rather not eat...I couldn't be assed with the shouting so I just ate it and in return I installed some digital TV for her, increasing her viewing capacity from 5 channels to 20+. Of course I had to teach her to drive the bloody thing but I am hoping it will bring her a little more joy and interest as her years advance. We also stopped over at Wells. What a charming market town with it's magnificent cathedral.
Sunday, well I toiled in my own garden cutting more bloody hedges, I didn't even manage to cut all of them as I ran out of storage space for all the waste. I hate the work but love the end result. I guess I don't have that much to moan about at the moment given that I don't work! Still another warm day and if I don't get to bitch about the weather soon people will get the wrong idea about the UK and think it is sunny here all the time. Now that would never do!

Today's image is another from my wander around the Motel Xenia...derelict and beautiful. I don't have that many more of it so I hope you will indulge me one more time...not the last time though! Designed by the architect Aris Konstandinidis (1913-1993). He worked for E.O.T (Greek Tourism Board) between 1957-1967. Today the motel just seems to sit and decay beautifully. I was back there at Easter to try and capture more of it's spirit before it is levelled!. I have even managed to find a decent aerial view of the place. So here is a map of the Motel Xenia. The cross shaped building is the centre of the complex.
